the-queen-chairman-and-i: Tai Ching sold his factory in the mid 70s, by then factories had started to move away from Hong Kong due to the increasing labour cost. Vietnam, Taiwan and China being the 3 main countries that manufacturers moved to. He explored the possibilities of opening a new factory in one of those countries in 1977, going on special designed trips for potential investors.
"In Hong Kong, anyone can open a factory and worry about the paperwork later, in these countries, I was constantly being told that I will need another stamp; another department, another person to bribe. I just can't work like that."
